We use several signals to rank entities for each normalized title, including: • The number of mentions for a given normalized title • The uniqueness and rarity of the entity concerning the population • Other relevant factors For example, if Excel is commonly mentioned as a skill for data scientist jobs, it won’t automatically rank high as a relevant skill. We penalize it based on its commonality across other job titles. Unlike many competitors, we do not use keyword-based matching for entity recognition tasks. Instead, we employ various algorithms (NER, Minhash, Embeddings, etc.) to maximize the coverage of entities found in job postings. For example, ML, Machine-Learning, and Machine Learning would all be identified. We also add a contextual AI layer to remove irrelevant entities in a given job posting. For instance, if we find the keyword Hepatitis B as a skill, we check the context of the job posting to determine its relevance to the job title. If the keyword is mentioned in the qualifications or requirements section and aligns with the job title, it would be considered a relevant skill for a nursing job.
